To ensure the safety of yourself and others and for an enjoyable experience for all we ask that you abide by the rules and regulations set forth by Afrishare.
1. Please return at the home no later than 11:30pm so that you are able to work for the normal daily routines. However on the weekends [Friday and Saturday], if you would like to stay our past curfew, please sign out for the night and find your own accommodations. If you intend to stay in our homebase, please still abide by the 11:30pm curfew. If there will be special activities or an excuse the hostel management should be informed at least 6hours before, for security reasons. Afrishare will not hold any responsibilities for a person who will stay out after 11:30pm at night.
2. Keep your items in a good condition, arrange your rooms in a clean order to simplify housekeepers` job. The scattered items/staff in rooms will not be cleaned until you are there. Make sure you lock important items, such as money, passport, camera and others to avoid unnecessary problems.
3. Please don’t travel with or take any Afrishare`s property such as pillow, towels etc. if you find it necessary to do so, please ask the management for permission or take your private staff. Afrishare`s property should be handled with care; any damage of such materials should be paid for.
4. Friends and visitors on Afrishare property are only allowed in reception area and place provided for guests/visitors. You are not allowed to take them inside your rooms unless authorized by management of any visitor you are intending to welcome at home.
5. No weapons allowed. We ask that if you are planning on purchasing any weapons in Tanzania as souvenirs at you do it at the end of your trip when your time with Afrishare has finished.
6. Please don’t post pictures, cards or anything on walls. Such items can be posted on beds or cardboards, etc. if necessary.
7. Respect your roommates and people who live on Afrishare`s property. If any problem do occur please inform the management.
8. Please don’t bring alcohol or any kind of alcohol products [such as bottles for souvenirs] to the home. Drinking alcohol at the homebase is prohibited. This is for the reasons of cultural norms and to respect others in this house, such as those who are under age and those who do not consume the product.
9. Drugs are not allowed, it’s illegal to buy or consume any drugs according to Tanzania government law and the victim can be jailed up to 30 years. therefore drugs are not allowed on Afrishare`s premises. If you are founding abusing this law inside or outside homebase, Afrishare will not be able to help you, this include marijuana, cocaine, heroin, mandrax and any kind of drug that is illegal by law.
10. Please don’t shout loudly especially during night time when everybody is asleep. This can cause disturbances to our neighbors and your roommates, and cause unwanted and possibly negative attention for the organization.
11. Afrishare solutions will not be held liable for anyone immediately after finishing his/her contract apart from giving them ride to the airport, hotel or any other destination. For those who will be staying longer in Tanzania after their program with Afrishare, we will request them fill out the Tanzania Travel waiver sheet for their responsibility.
12. Homosexuality is not acceptable by Tanzania cultural beliefs and is strictly not allowed by Tanzania law, and is punishable by jail time up to years. If you are homosexual, we request you do not talk about it openly and hide your identity.
13. All travel activities should be done during weekends [Friday afternoon-Sunday evening] or after the end of your program, this is to ensure the seriousness of our volunteer work in the community. Remember that you are here to volunteer, so please make effort to attend your project during the entirety of your stay [Monday-Friday]. If for any reason you are unable to attend you will need to notify one of the in country staff as well as your placement counterpart.
14. Please abide by Kilimanjaro Region Moshi Municipality by laws and Tanzania government laws in general. Please ask for any help and clarification in case you are not sure of what you want to do and its consequences.
15. For any special circumstances or request, please contact with the management at least one week in advance of any plan s you wish to make.
16. Afrishare is a non political, non-religious organization and is open for all nationalities. Any kind of racism or inappropriate language will not be tolerated, we are here to enjoy the experience that our world can offer.
17. According to Tanzania culture, men and women cannot share a room regardless of family, sister and brother etc.; therefore there should not be integration between men and women in the room of our house unless you are officially married.
18. There is also no sexual relationship/activity allowed between Afrishare staff and volunteers during the contract of staying with Afrishare. This includes displays of public affection
Failure to this policy agreement can lead us serious problem such as meeting and termination of the program.
